SCSU Women's Track & Field Competes at Day 1 of La Verne's Leopard Invitational

LA VERNE, Calif. - Southern Connecticut women's track & field competed at day one of University of La Verne's Leopard Invitational.

In the 100m Hurdles, Patrice Mansfield won her heat, qualifying for the finals with a time of 14.35. Amanda Castaldi also qualified, running a personal best time of 14.18, which was the third fastest time in the preliminaries. That time ranks fifth in program history. The 100m Hurdles finals take place tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

Ella Maclean also advanced to the finals in the 100m Dash after winning her heat with a time of 12.10, which was the fourth fastest in the preliminaries. She will run in the 100m Dash finals tomorrow at 6:25 p.m.

Abigail Bajorek placed 12th in the 800m to lead the team with a time of 2:17.57. Rae Geddes followed in 16th with a personal-best time of 2:18.04, and Erin Sola finished in 18th at 2:18.63, also a personal best.

Mckenzie David placed fifth in the 10000m in her first time running the event, finishing with a time of 37:55.18. That time ranks fourth in program history.

The Owls will compete at day two of the Leopard Invitational tomorrow, and will also send athletes to the Bryan Clay Invitational and the UConn Northeast Challenge.
