SCSU Baseball Drops Doubleheader Against Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. - Southern Connecticut baseball dropped both games of a doubleheader against Bentley, losing game one 20-2 and game two 10-1. The Owls drop to
6-18 on the season.

Auggie Albert led the team with three hits across the two games. Bam Talavera, Aidan Hyams, Devin Pelletier, and Jake Chacho each recorded extra-base hits, with Chacho hitting his fifth home run of the year. Talavera stole his ninth base of the season, which leads the team.

GAME 1
Bentley jumped on starter Cody Heselton in the first and second inning. One run scored off a single in the first, and three more would score in the second before an out was recorded. Owen Sotero entered in relief and threw four innings. Trace Morales threw the seventh and eighth innings, and Kyle Stegina recorded all three outs in the ninth.

The Owls scored both of their runs in the third off an error and a Brennan Staubley single. The offense totaled 10 hits, but stranded 11 runners. Auggie Albert led the way offensively, going 3-4, and Bam Talavera, Aidan Hyams, and Devin Pelletier all hit doubles.

GAME 2 (Seven inn.)
The second game was a pitchers' duel most of the way. Bailey Goss allowed a run off of a wild pitch in the first inning, but the score would remain 1-0 until the fifth inning. Bentley powered three home runs in the inning, with two against Goss and a grand slam against Payton Powell, who entered in relief. Only five of the 10 runs Bentley scored were earned.

Jake Chacho hit his fifth home run of the season in the top of the seventh to put the Owls on the board.

The Owls will look to bounce back tomorrow for the third and fourth games of the series.
