SCSU Men's Soccer Plays to 2-2 Draw at University of Bridgeport

Bridgeport, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer played the University of Bridgeport to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon. The Owls move to 0-1-1 on the season, while the Purple Knights stand at 0-0-2.

Southern Connecticut State got on the board first at 31:52 of the opening half when Alessandro Bacabac found the back of the net off an assist from Jimmy Choi. Bacabac struck again early in the second half, scoring at 51:06 off an assist from Pau Cano to give the Owls a 2-0 advantage.

Bridgeport responded with two second-half goals to even the score. Cem Celik scored in the 70th minute before Samuel Dundas found the back of the net in the 79th minute, resulting in the 2-2 final.

Bacabac led the Owls offensively with his two goals, while Southern Connecticut recorded 18 shots, including 12 on goal, and held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, Héctor Díez Viota made five saves for the Owls while playing all 90 minutes. Díez Viota made all five of his saves in the second half, helping Southern Connecticut State secure the draw.

Choi and Bacabac each recorded three shots on goal for the Owls, while Izan Vila added four shots.

The Owls return to action on Sept. 5 at 1 pm at SCSU against Felician University.
