SCSU Women's Soccer Defeated Queens 3-0, for Second-Straight Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-- Southern Connecticut State University Women's Soccer defeated Queens College 3-0 on Wednesday Sept. 16 in a non-conference match up at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Owls move to 4-0-2, while the Knights drop to 4-3.
 
The Owls struck in the second minute when Isabella LaPerle found the back of the net off a feed from Ryleigh Phillips to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. This was LaPerle's second goal of the year and the first assist of 2026 for Phillips.
 
In the 38th minute, the Owls struck again. This time it was their leading two goal scorers connecting, when Elizabeth Bishop found Frida Norret just outside the 18 yard box. Norret fired the ball into the top right corner, just past the Knights keeper to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. This was Norret's fourth goal of the season, which ties her for fourth in the NE10. The assist was Bishop's first of 2026.

 
The Owls struck once more before the half time horn in the 44th when Phillips sent a header just in front of the goal, for Hargraves to tap it in, to give the Owls a 3-0 lead. This was Hargraves first goal of the season and the second assist of the night for Phillips.
 
In the second half, Southern kept their foot on the gas taking seven shots but did not convert on another chance. In net for the Owls, Makenzi Pastreck pitched her fourth shutout of the season, earning one save. Pastreck currently ranks first in the NE10 in shutouts and is yet to allow a goal this season.
 
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Saturday Sept. 19 when they travel to Pleasantville, N.Y. to take on Pace University in their first game of Northeast 10 conference play. The Owls return home on Saturday Oct. 3 when they host Southern New Hampshire at 4 PM for an NE10 match up at Jess Dow Field.
