SCSU Women's Soccer Bests Chestnut Hill 3-0

Box Score Philadelphia, PA—Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer bested Chestnut Hill College 3-0 Friday night in a non-conference match up in Philadelphia PA. With the win, the Owls move to a record of 2-0-1 and with the loss the Griffins fall to 0-1-3.
 
The Owls opened the scoring early as Elizabeth Bishop continued her dominance putting the ball past the Griffins keeper in the third minute off of a pass from Norret, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. This was Bishop's third goal of the season and third this week. 
 
In the 29th minute, the Owls struck again with Frida Norret scoring on a free kick just outside the 18 yard box, expanding the Owls lead to 2-0. This was Norret's third goal of the season, tying her with Bishop for the Owls lead. Norret also leads the Owls in asssists with three. 
 
After a quiet start to the second half, the Owls added another goal in the 68th minute, with another free kick goal. Saga Möttönen took the kick just outside the 18 yard box and put it past the goalkeeper to extend the Owls lead to 3-0. This was Mottonen's first collegiate goal.
 
The Owls had an impressive showing defensively. They faced 14 shots, seven of which were on goal and Makenzi Pastreck stood tall saving all seven shots on goal. This is Pastreck's second shutout of the season.
 
Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday Sept. 8 when they travel to Lakewood, N.J. to take on the Georgian Court Lions in a non-conference match up at 5 PM. The Owls return home to Jess Dow Field on Saturday Sept. 12 when they'll host St. Thomas Aquinas college at 3 PM for a non-conference match up.
