Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Rebecca Brady (Hampstead, N.H.) of the gymnastics team and junior A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) of the men’s outdoor track and field team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Brady collected All-America honors on the vault for the second straight year at the 2013 USAG Collegiate National Championships. She scored a 9.775 to finish fifth overall in the competition.

Guerra won the hammer throw at this past weekend’s Metropolitan Championships with a toss of 14.73 meters. His mark was a NCAA provisional qualifying effort. Guerra and the Owls, currently ranked No. 18 in Division II, placed second at the Mets. Guerra’s mark was the fifth best in Division II this year.
