Southern Connecticut State University men’s track and field sophomore Terrell Patterson (Waterbury, Conn.) and junior Oghenefejiro Onakpoma (Naugatuck, Conn.) were named the SCSU Male Co-Athletes of the Week, as announced on Wednesday, Mar. 14, 2019.
Onakpoma competed in the triple jump finals, taking sixth place after he posted a 15.42-meter jump in his second go-around in the finals, earning his first indoor All-America honor and the second in his career in the triple jump.
Patterson earned All-American honors after he placed sixth out of nine runners with a time of 4:13.01, narrowly behind the fifth-place finisher by a tenth of a second. With a sixth-place finish, Patterson becomes the second runner in Southern Connecticut history to earn All-American honors in the mile run behind Josh Perry, who became the first in 2012.
