NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) of the women's indoor track and field team and junior Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) of the men's indoor track and field team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Brown posted a NCAA provisional qualifying score in the pentathlon at the Manhattan Jasper Invitational. Brown registered a score of 3,606 points.
Lebron was leading the Manhattan Multi-Meet after day one before inclement weather forced him to miss day two action. Lebron had registered a NCAA provisional height of 2.05 meters in the high jump at the competition.
The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
