NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Natasha Fitzpatrick (West Moonah, Australia) of the women’s cross country team and redshirt junior Justin Potts (Meriden, Conn.) of the football team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Fitzpatrick was the top Division II finisher (15th overall) out of more than 150 participants at the Ted Owen Invitational at Central Connecticut State on Saturday. In a competition primarily featuring Division I programs, Fitzpatrick completed the course in a time of 18:26.8. The Owls placed tops among Division I teams at the competition thanks in part to Fitzpatrick’s performance.

Potts posted three interceptions - his first multiple interception game as a collegian – in Southern’s thrilling 21-20 victory over AIC on Friday night. His final interception came in the closing minutes after the Owls had forged ahead by a point. Potts became the first Owl since 2008 to record three interceptions in a single game. He also notched two tackles in the game.
