NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Abby Hurlbert (Thomaston, Conn.) of the women’s basketball team and junior Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Hurlbert had a career night in the Owls’ only game last week, a 70-64 triumph over Felician. She posted her first collegiate double-double with 21 points – a career-high – and 11 rebounds in the win. Hurlbert’s 11 rebounds were one off her career-high and she also matched a career-high with four steals.
McLeod averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals for the Owls last week. He scored 21 points and added four rebounds and three steals in a win over Dominican. McLeod then posted 19 points and five assists in the final contest of the week against Caldwell.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
