NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior #Jenna Mallico# (Milford, Conn.) of the women’s soccer team and sophomore #Ross McGibney# (Dublin, Ireland) of the men’s soccer team have been selected as the Southern Connecticut State University Student-Athletes of the Month for September.
Mallico played a key role in the Owls’ quick start during the month. She registered seven points (three goals, one assist), including the game-winning markers against St. Michael’s and Assumption. Mallico was named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week on Sept. 20.
McGibney scored a team-high 13 points (six goals, one assist) during the month of September. He helped the Owls win seven of eight matches and reach as high as No. 25 in the national rankings. McGibney netted three game-winning goals – against Caldwell, Saint Anselm and New Haven – in the month.
