NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team faced its highest ranked opponent of the season, the No. 3 Bulldogs from Bryant University, at Jess Dow Field in New Haven on Saturday afternoon. The Owls held their own against their nationally ranked conference foes, before ultimately falling by a score of 2-0.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 19:04 when Alex Dippio headed a Tricia Spada corner kick past the Owls defense to take a 1-0 advantage. The goal was the seventh on the season for Bryant sophomore.
Amy Orzechowski tacked on an insurance goal for the Bulldogs in the 66th minute, knocking a loose ball by Owls goalkeeper
Katie DiDio to run the score to 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
Didio ended the contest with seven saves for the Owls.
The Owls return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 17 as they host Northeast-10 opponent Massachusetts-Lowell in their final home match of the season. The action begins at 7 p.m. from Jess Dow Field.
