SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Downpours welcomed the Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team to Syracuse on Tuesday afternoon, as it wrapped up its 2007 season with a match against the Le Moyne Dolphins. The sloppy field ensured a low scoring affair and, unfortunately for the Owls, the afternoon's lone goal would be tallied by the home team.
The Owls finish the season at 7-9-2 overall and 4-9-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
The lone goal of the match came in the 23rd minute, as Dolphins forward Megan O'Shea connected with a loose ball in the box for an unassisted tally.
The Owls outshot their opponents 13-9. This marks only the fifth time that the Owls outshot their opponents this season, and their first time doing so in a losing effort. Sophomore
Katrina Cook (Westtown, N.Y.) led the Owls' offensive efforts, firing off three shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper
Katie DiDio (Vernon, Conn.) had five saves in the loss. Jessica Cochol stopped seven shots in preserving the shutout for Le Moyne.
