Dan Vitagliano (New Haven, Conn.) and junior
Ben Prue (Alpharetta, Ga.) each won a pair of events on Saturday, but the Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team fell to The College of New Jersey 163-124 at TCNJ Aquatic Center. Vitagliano and Prue combined to post four of SCSU's five event wins on the afternoon.
Senior
Denny Shupe (Berwyn, Pa.) posted the first win of the meet for the Owls when he swam a time of 9:52.84 to finish first in the 1000-yard freestyle.
From there, it was Vitagliano and Prue who would bring home the victories for SCSU. Vitagliano picked up his first win of the day in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.81. He would later add a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.84.
In between Vitagliano's two victories, Prue notched his initial first-place finish of the day as he posted a time of 1:56.35 to win the 200-yard butterfly. Later on in the afternoon, Prue flipped over and swam a 1:56.97 to win the 200-yard backstroke as well.
The Owls return to action on Sunday, November 11 when they travel across the city of New Haven to visit Yale at 12 p.m.
