WALTHAM, Mass. – Southern went on the road for a conference match against Bentley College on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 victory. With their second win in a row, the Owls improved to 5-3, 3-2 in Northeast-10 conference play, while the Falcons fell to 3-6-1, 1-3-1.
Freshman
Jenna Mallico (Milford, Conn.) tallied a goal and an assist in the winning effort for the Owls.
Nicole Burton (Warwick, N.Y.) and
Gina Della Rose (Prospect, Conn.) added goals for SCSU, who is currently in sixth place in the NE-10 standings.
Owl goalkeepers
Katie DiDio (Vernon Conn.) and
Heather Hawks (Thomaston, Conn.) combined for five saves, to complete the Owls fourth clean sheet of the season. Falcon goalkeeper, Kara Smith, tallied seven saves in the losing effort.
On Oct. 1 SCSU will host Assumption College at Jess Dow Field. Kickoff for this conference match is set for 7 p.m.
