NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team fell short to Adelphi by the final score of 1-0 on Wednesday evening at Jess Dow Field. Prior to the game, the women's soccer team honored their six senior class members to celebrate their illustrious careers here at Southern Connecticut.
Through the first 45 minutes of the game, neither squad was able to muster much of an offensive attack. Southern held a 7-3 advantage in shots, however the teams went into the locker rooms tied a 0-0.
After the brief intermission, Adelphi opened the scoring summary in the second stanza. Meghan Carey's first mark of the season proved to be the difference as the Panthers defeated the Owls 1-0.
Katie DiDio (Vernon, Conn.) and
Olivia Heffernan (Wallingford, Conn.) combined for four saves in the losing effort, while Dorothy Connolly registered three stops for the visiting Panthers.
