Women’s Soccer Falls Short At Assumption, 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Katie DiDio (Vernon, Conn.) made two saves on Wednesday evening, as the Southern Connecticut State University dropped its second consecutive road game to Assumption College. The final score was 2-0. With the loss, the Owls descended to 4-3, 1-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Greyhounds improved to 2-3, 2-2 in the league.

Assumption captured the lead early on in the first half. In the 17th minute, Kelsey Abelein collected a feed from Katie DiCioccio and buried the game's first goal for a 1-0 advantage. The Greyhounds would hang on and carry that lead into the locker rooms.

In the 86th minute, Molly Kessler would put the game out of reach with her first collegiate goal, sending the Owls home with their third loss of the season.

Lauren Keating recorded four saves in her second shutout of the year for the hosting Greyhounds.

The Owls return to action on Sept. 19 when the team plays host to Saint Michael's. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
