ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team continued its hot streak on Tuesday night, as the Owls defeated Molloy, 6-1 at John A. Darcy Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y. With the victory, Southern has now won its last four games, improving to 4-1 on the season. With the loss, the Lions are now 1-2 against Northeast-10 opponents, descending to 2-2-1 this fall.

Southern's offense led the way once again for the squad. In the 26th minute of action, sophomore Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) put the Owls on the scoreboard with the game's first goal. Junior Harry Appiah (Pawtucket, R.I.) crossed the ball from the left side of the field where a wide open Templeton slammed it home for a 1-0 lead. Templeton has now found the back of the net in his last three games, increasing his season total to four goals.

Just minutes later, Southern capitalized on a freekick surrendered by the Lions. Freshman Seth Ragaini (Seymour, Conn.) found the head of sophomore Jeremy Tavares (Waterbury, Conn.) for his second goal of the season. Ragaini picked up his fifth assist, as the Owls captured a 2-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, SCSU picked up right where they left off in the first half. In the 53rd minute of play, freshman Yoni Feldman (Ramat-Gan, Israel) sent a long pass over the Lions backline to Ragaini, who placed a shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Ragaini's first goal of the year put the Owls in front 3-0.

After Molloy reached the scoreboard in the 65th minute, Appiah responded a mere two minutes later with a crafty goal of his own. Appiah received a pass from junior Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.) and chipped the ball over the head of the Lion goalkeeper, extending the margin back to three goals.

Appiah continued to pour it on and tacked on two more insurance goals some five minutes later. In the 72nd minute he connected on a break-away and seconds later he finished a cross from Ragaini for a 6-1 advantage.

The six goals were more than enough support for junior goalkeeper Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) and the Owls defense. Rybacki made four saves in his second victory of the season.

The Owls are back in action on Sept. 12 with an away match at Merrimack. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in North Andover, Mass.
