Doural Scott's (New Haven, Conn.) second half game-winning goal gave the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team a 3-2 win over American International College in a Northeast-10 game on Wednesday night at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Owls improve to 11-2-1 on the season, and 8-1-2 in the NE-10, while American International College drops to 6-8-1 on the year, and 4-5-1 in NE-10 play.
Both teams played a scoreless 38:25 before
Harry Appiah's (Pawtucket, R.I.) unassisted goal gave SCSU a 1-0 lead.
Freshman forward Scott gave the Owls a 2-0 lead 18:08 into the second half. Senior midfielder
Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder
Matan Bik (Hamden, Conn.) recorded assistant on the goal.
AIC quickly responded as midfielder Sean Stevenson scored 1:46 later to cut the SCSU lead to 2-1. Midfielder Conor Doyle had the assist on the goal.
Scott scored the game winning goal, and his second goal of the game at the 74:04 mark to give the Owls a 3-1 lead. Hernandez once again assisted on the Scott goal.
Doyle scored at the 80:48 mark to cut the SCSU lead to 3-2.
Junior goalkeeper
Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) made two saves in the winning effort.
For AIC, goalkeeper James Taber made one save.
The Owls return to action when they host Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m.
