THE WEEK AHEAD
The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team will take on the University of New Haven at Jess Dow Field on Wednesday night prior to traveling to take on Stonehill on Saturday.

FAST FEET
Ross McGibney's goal just 25 seconds into the Owls contest against Assumption set a new record for the fasted goal in program history.

OWLS DEBUT IN THE NATIONAL POLL
Southern Connecticut made its entrance into the HendrickCars.com/NSCAA National poll last week in the No. 25 position. The Owls are also ranked No. 4 in the regional poll.

A FLARE FOR THE DRAMATIC
Over a three-game span, midfielder Ross McGibney scored three goals. Each goal put the Owls ahead by one goal, with two of the go-ahead goals standing as game-winners.

DEFENSE!
The Owls have only allowed three goals through five games in the fall season. SCSU has capitalized on their stingy defense by outscoring its opponents 6-3 overall en route to a 4-1 record.

HOME AT LAST
The Owls will play their first home game on Wednesday, September 22 when they host cross-town rival University of New Haven. SCSU started its season with five consecutive road games.

LANG EARNS 200TH WIN WITH OWLS
Head coach Tom Lang recorded his 200th career win at SCSU on Sept. 4 with the 2-1 win over Caldwell.

PICKING UP WHERE THEY LEFT OFF
Paul Templeton and Harry Appiah, two of the team's top returning scorers from a year ago, both registered goals over the course of the opening two games.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
SCSU starts the year with five matches away from home - two neutral site and three road contests. The home opener is on Sept. 22 against New Haven.

RETURNING A STRONG NUCLEUS
The Owls have a great veteran presence this year with 13 returning players from last year's club.

IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
Southern Connecticut was selected fourth in the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer coaches' preseason poll.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Ten newcomers have joined the Owls for the 2010 campaign - Jon Eckford, Tucker Cumpstone, Ariel Lobo, Jordan Chin, Ross McGibney, Mat Glodack, Doural Scott, Eric Rothbart, Stephen Sasso and Chris Couperus.

THE CAPTAINS
Senior Victor Hernandez and junior Paul Templeton will serve as team captains for the Owls this fall.

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES
Seth Ragaini handed out seven assists in 2009, which was good enough for first place on the team and in the Northeast-10 Conference.

TEMPLETON EXCELLING IN ALL FACETS
Paul Templeton was selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer All-Academic Team following the conclusion of the 2009 season. Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 to be eligible for consideration.

A HALF DOZEN ALL-CONFERENCE PICKS BACK
Six student-athletes who were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference at the conclusion of last year's are back this season. Harry Appiah, Yoni Feldman, Victor Hernandez and Paul Templeton were named to the All-Conference squads, while Frank Lara and Seth Ragaini were both All-Rookie Team picks.

ECAC RECOGNITION
Yoni Feldman and Paul Templeton are returning All-ECAC selections from a year ago.

REGIONAL ACCOLADES CONTINUE
Three Owls returning in 2010 - Harry Appiah, Victor Hernandez and Paul Templeton - collected All-Region honors at the conclusion of the 2009 season.

TOURNAMENT FINALISTS
The Owls reached the finals of the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, where they were edged by a nationally ranked LeMoyne squad on the road, 2-1.
