Laura Barberia (Pamplona, Spain) put the Owls on the board early with a goal in the 22nd minute of play, but LeMoyne battled back to end the game with a 1-1 tie. After two scoreless over time periods the Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team recorded the season's first tie, to move its record to 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the Northeast-10. The deadlock pushes the Dolphins record to 1-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.
Barberia found the back of the net with an assist from by
Flavia Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) which gave the Owls a 1-0 lead. The Owls exceptional defense would keep LeMoyne silent until the 77 minute of play when Christine Morano (Highland, N.Y.) squeezing the a ball through the defense tying the score at 1-1.
SCSU had their chance to take the game with 1:42 left in regular play when junior
Hannah Hatch (Stafford Springs, Conn.) roped the ball towards goal off a corner kick, which was blocked in the goal by defender Kellie Walter (Marcellus, N.Y.).
Junior
Olivia Heffernan (Wallingford, Conn.) tallied 3 saves in her first tie of the season for SCSU, while counterpart, Felicia Tynan (Oxford, N.Y.) made one save for the Dolphins.
The Owls outshot LeMoyne 9-6 while also having one up in corner kicks, 5-4.
