THE WEEK AHEAD
After going 3-1 last week, the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team will play four more games this week. Southern will host back-to-back Northeast-10 Conference games when it hosts Pace on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., followed by a match against Franklin Pierce on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. The Owls will then travel to Philadelphia to play a tri-match against Caldwell and Philadelphia on Oct. 15 beginning at 2 p.m.
TRI-SUCCESS
After defeating Mercy and AIC in last week's tri-match, the Owls are now 8-0 in tri-match contests this season, and will look to improve on that mark when they travel to Philadelphia this weekend.
PAIR OF OWLS EARN NE-10 HONORS
Lauren McVey and Megan Hiss were both selected to the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll last week for their play versus New Haven, Queens and Southern New Hampshire.
THE AVENGERS
The Owls avenged a loss to AIC earlier in the week by defeating the Yellowjackets in a five-set rematch on Saturday.
OWLS TAKE FLIGHT
With 14 wins, the Owls are just two wins away from matching last year's win total of 16.
ROAD WARRIORS
The Owls have been nearly untouchable away from home, as they have posted a perfect 10-0 record in road and neutral site competition this season.
SENIOR SENDOFF
Prior to their match against Franklin Pierce, the Owls will conduct senior festivities when they honor seniors Megan Hiss and Megan Lyons.
FIREPOWER RETURNING APLENTY
The Owls have seven student-athletes returning from last year's squad back on the court for the 2011 season.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Southern Connecticut welcomes seven newcomers to the squad this year - Caelese Brown, Natasha Carlbert, Chloe Dyke, Madison Featherston, Danielle Jordine, Katelyn Mayr and Jessica Ryder.
FARING WELL IN 2010
The Owls closed the 2010 season with a final mark of 16-13 overall and 7-8 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Southern Connecticut finished in ninth place in the NE-10, just one game away from qualifying for the league tournament for the second straight year.
THIRD STRAIGHT WINNING SEASON
Southern Connecticut posted its third consecutive winning season in 2010. It's the first time in more than 30 years that the Owls were able to accomplish that feat.
LACHOWICZ COLLECTS ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Kimberly Lachowicz was named an All-Northeast-10 Conference selection for her play during the 2010 season. She ranked among the league leaders in service aces and assists during the course of the year.
FARING WELL IN THE CLASSROOM
The Owls had 10 student-athletes - Sarah Beres, Syriah Celestine, Danielle Dean, Megan Hiss, Kimi Lachowicz, Megan Lyons, Lauren McVey, Broghan Miller, Robin Priest and Vanessa Sullivan - named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2010-11 academic year.

Thanks to a 16-win season in 2010, Southern Connecticut has now won 66 matches over the past three years.
