SCSU Volleyball Sweeps Franklin Pierce, 3-0

RINDGE, N.H. - Southern Connecticut volleyball team swept Franklin Pierce University in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Rindge, N.H. With the win, the Owls improved to 13-5 overall and 4-1 in the Northeast 10 Conference, while the Ravens fell to 6-13 overall and 2-4 in the NE10.

Sydney Bennett led the Owls with 14 kills and 17.5 points, as well as three blocks, while Kerrigan Habing added 10 kills and 11.5 points. Kimi Mitchell totaled 29 assists, eight digs, nine kills and a pair of aces. Dylan Marney led the Owls with four aces while Sarah Henault had three aces and 13 digs.

Bennett was a force as her 14 kills came on 19 attempts, with one error, for a .684 hitting percentage – her second best of the season. It was also her third-straight match with double-digit kills.

The Owls out-hit the Ravens .412 to .182 and out-blocked 9-7. Southern Connecticut also dominated in the serving department, holding a 10-4 advantage in service aces.

Southern closes the season with three home games in their final four matches, including a 12 p.m. start on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Southern New Hampshire at Pelz Gymnasium in New Haven, Conn.
