Women's Soccer Shuts Out Bentley, 2-0

Mallico scored both goals in the win over Bentley, 2-0.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Jenna Mallico (Milford, Conn.) scored two goals to help the Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team defeat Bentley University today, 2-0. Mallico added both goals in the second half. The Owls move to 10-1-1 on the season and 8-1-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action with the win.

Mallico's first goal in the 60th minute when see scored inside the box in the lower right corner. Her second goal came outside the box from a pass from Ashleigh Tracy (Cobleskill, N.Y.), as she was able to tuck it past the goaltender in the lower right corner. Mallico finished with three shots during the game.

Suzane Pires (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Laura Barberia (Pamplona, Spain) also tallied two shots each during the game.

Goaltender Jacquelyn Fede (North Haven, Conn.) picked up her 11th shutout on the season. With the shutout, Fede becomes the only Owl to record 11 shutouts in one season.

Bentley drops to 4-7-1, and 3-5-1 in Northeast-10 play. 

Southern next game will be October 15 when they travel to Rindge, N.H. to face Franklin Pierce. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m.
