Softball Splits Double Header Against Molloy

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Southern Connecticut State University softball team split a doubleheader against Molloy in Clermont, Fla. on Wednesday,  The Owls won the first game in extra innings, 3-2, but lost 6-2 in the second half of the doubleheader. Kristin Whitley (North Andover, Mass.) had a walk-off double to secure the game one win for the Owls.

During game one, Brittany Bucko (Wallington, N.J.) went 2-for-4 scoring two of the Owls' three runs.  Whitley continued her hitting streak by going 2-for-4 and driving in all three runs. Jayme Larson (Aurora, Colo.) pitched eight innings, giving up only two runs to get the win.

During game two, it was a pitching dual for the most part as Jessica Rosa (Wallingford, Conn.)  went 5.2 innings pitched giving up one run. Larson entered in relief and gave up five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Rosa helped her own cause driving in both of runs for the Owls.

The Owls will be back in action tomorrow as they continue their Florida trip against Philadelphia University and Caldwell College in Clermont, Fla.
