NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut softball concluded its regular season with a sweep of St. Michaels, 3-2 and 6-2, in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Pelz Field. The two wins bring the Owls to 15-23 overall and 4-16 in the NE10 while the Purple Knights drop to 17-18-1 overall and 9-11 in conference play.

Karley Austin and Izzy Ingersoll both collect four hits in the doubleheader while Rachel Miller collected three on the day. The Owls received a pair of complete games from Ashley Lewis and Giselle DeLutri while Dominique DeLutri had the game-winning RBI in the Owls' walk-off win in Game 1.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Ingersoll singled up the middle and then went to third on a double by Miller. DeLutri then dropped down a bunt to score Ingersoll with the squeeze to tie the game at 1-1.

Ingersoll flashed the leather on the next play with a diving stop and throw to first from her knees for the second out of the inning. With a runner at third, Ingersoll made a near-identical stop at short but the throw was a step late and allowed the go-ahead run to cross.

In the bottom of the 8th, Austin led off with a sharply hit ground ball through the left side of the infield before moving to second on a wild pitch. Ingersoll then drove a double the opposite way over the head of the left fielder to score Austin and tie the game at 2-2. After LaFemina pinch ran for Ingersoll, Miller singled to left to move her to third base. DeLutri then hit a line drive to the right-center field gap to score LaFemina with the game-winning run for the walk-off victory.
