THE WEEK AHEAD
Coming off a two game homestand, the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team will play four games this week. Southern will travel to face Assumption on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., followed directly by a home contest against Bentley on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. The Owls will cap off the week when they travel to Philadelphia to face Bloomfield and USP on Sept. 24.
SULLIVAN EARNS NE-10 HONORS
Junior Vanessa Sullivan was named the Northeast-10 Conference Libero of the Week on Sept. 13 for her play last week after she registered 56 digs against Nyack, Bridgeport, and Georgian Court.
LACHOWICZ ASSISTING NICELY
Junior Kimberly Lachowicz tallied 54 assists last week, as she registered 15 and 39 against NYIT and Saint Rose, respectively.
McDOUBLE
Lauren McVey recorded a double-double against Saint Rose with 12 kills and 18 digs.
A FAMILIAR ROLE
Southern started the season with seven consecutive matches against non-conference opponents and went 5-2.
FIREPOWER RETURNING APLENTY
The Owls have seven student-athletes returning from last year's squad back on the court for the 2011 season.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Southern Connecticut welcomes seven newcomers to the squad this year - Caelese Brown, Natasha Carlbert, Chloe Dyke, Madison Featherston, Danielle Jordine, Katelyn Mayr and Jessica Ryder.
FARING WELL IN 2010
The Owls closed the 2010 season with a final mark of 16-13 overall and 7-8 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Southern Connecticut finished in ninth place in the NE-10, just one game away from qualifying for the league tournament for the second straight year.
THIRD STRAIGHT WINNING SEASON
Southern Connecticut posted its third consecutive winning season in 2010. It's the first time in more than 30 years that the Owls were able to accomplish that feat.
LACHOWICZ COLLECTS ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Kimberly Lachowicz was named an All-Northeast-10 Conference selection for her play during the 2010 season. She ranked among the league leaders in service aces and assists during the course of the year.
FARING WELL IN THE CLASSROOM
The Owls had 10 student-athletes - Sarah Beres, Syriah Celestine, Danielle Dean, Megan Hiss, Kimi Lachowicz, Megan Lyons, Lauren McVey, Broghan Miller, Robin Priest and Vanessa Sullivan - named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for their work in the classroom during the 2010-11 academic year.

Thanks to a 16-win season in 2010, Southern Connecticut has now won 66 matches over the past three years.
