THE WEEK AHEAD
The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team opens the 2012 season at home against Post on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. They will then travel for the AIC Labor Day Tournament to take on Nyack and Queens on Sept. 1, along with Georgian Court and Concordia on Sept. 2.

IN THE NE-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team has been selected 10th in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll.
ALL-TIME VS. POST
The Owls are 11-3 all-time against Post.
ALL-TIME VS. NYACK
The Owls are 5-14 all-time against Nyack.
ALL-TIME VS. QUEENS
The Owls are all-time 4-5 against Queens.
ALL-TIME VS. CONCORDIA
The Owls are 3-7 all-time against Concordia.

The Owls are 2-1 all-time against Georgian Court.
FARING WELL IN 2011
The Owls closed the 2011 season with a final mark of 19-11 overall and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament for the second time in the last three years.
FOUR IN A ROW
Southern Connecticut posted its fourth consecutive winning season in 2011. It's the most consecutive winning seasons for SCSU since the 1978 campaign, when the Owls clinched their seventh consecutive winning season. Southern Connecticut has now combined to win 85 matches over the course of the past four years.
BERES COLLECTS AN ARRAY HONORS
Sophomore
Sarah Beres was recognized on several fronts for her play during the 2011 campaign. She was named All-Region, All-ECAC and was an All-Northeast-10 Conference selection. She ranked among the league leaders in kills and blocks during the course of the year.
HISS CAPTURES NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS
Senior
Megan Hiss was honored with a selection to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team in 2011. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least one year at their current institution, achieved at least a 3.3 minimum cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key reserve.

BARBARO COLLECTS WIN NO. 100
Head coach
Lisa Barbaro earned her 100th career win on the Owls' sidelines in a victory over Georgian Court on Sept. 10.
IN THE NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS
Southern Connecticut made its presence felt in the NCAA Regional rankings during the 2011 campaign and was ranked 10th in the final regular season rankings.
SULLIVAN GOES OVER 1,000 DIGS
Vanessa Sullivan collected her 1,000th career dig in a victory over Georgian Court on Sept. 10. She enters her senior season with 1,377 career digs.
LACHOWICZ DISHES IT OUT
Setter
Kimberly Lachowicz posted a single-season best 1,087 assists during the 2011 season. She enters her senior season with 2,742 assists.

The Owls will return to action on Sept. 5 when they host Felician.
