GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team and Adelphi tied, 0-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference game in Garden City, N.Y.
The game remained scoreless in the first half with very limited scoring opportunities.
The Owls (2-1-1, 0-1-1 NE-10) had no shots in the half, while Adelphi (3-1-1, 0-1-1 NE-10) took five shots.
Southern did not take its first shot until the 64th minute of the second half. Sophomore
Bryana Poulin (Webster, Mass.) took a shot, only to be saved.
Junior
Suzane Pires (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took a shot in the 85th minute after getting the ball back from her own corner kick, but the shot was saved.
Both teams tried to get off a good shot towards the end of regulation, but the game was forced into overtime.
The game remained scoreless after the first and second overtime.
Pires led the Owls with five shots, three of which were on goal.
Freshman
Elizabeth Nickerson (Seaford, Va.) had two saves and allowed no goals.
The Owls will return to action at home against Franklin Pierce on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m.
