NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A couple of goals from
Suzane Pires (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Hannah Spreckley (York, England) and 6 saves from goalie Camillie Fantini (Andover, Mass.) gave the Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team their second win of the season tonight over Southern New Hampshire.
The Owls are now 2-5, 1-3 in the Northeast 10 Conference. Southern New Hampshire is now 3-4-1, 0-3-1 in the NE-10 Conference.
A fairly physical game was escalated by a goal from Pires in the 10th minute to give SCSU the advantage. The Owls defense kept Southern New Hampshire scoreless. The first half concluded with a corner kick by Pires to Spreckley for the goal with four minutes to go in the half.
The second half continued to be physical. Fantini (Andover, Mass.) in goal for the Owls kept Southern New Hampshire off the board the entire game.
The Owls are back in action as they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to play Le Moyne College on Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.
