SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut University women's soccer team dropped its season opener today at the AIC Women's Soccer Classic in Springfield, Mass. against No. 24 Long Island University Post.

The Owls are 0-1 and LIU Post is now 1-0.

The game was scoreless till the ninth minute when LIU Post's Jeanine Ambrogi was able to beat SCSU defense up the middle of the box to score her first goal of the season.

The next goal came in the 61st minute from sophomore Hanna Westerling, assisted by Suzanne Vistnes. The Owls were able to stick with the Pioneers by outshooting them 16-7, but weren't able to come up with the win.

The Owls will be back on the field at the AIC Women's Soccer Classic to take on Bridgeport on Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m.
