Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team improved its win streak to four on Wednesday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Le Moyne. With the win, the Owls improve 5-3 (4-2 NE-10), while the Dolphins drop to 4-5-1 (2-3-1 NE-10).
Southern jumped on the scoreboard early, scoring on its first shot of the game in the 11
th minute. Senior
Bryana Poulin (Webster, Mass.) centered a ball from the right of the goal into the box, where it was headed out of the air by sophomore
Caroline Staudle (New Windsor, N.Y.) and into the net. It was Staudle's third marker of the year and gave the Owls an early 1-0 lead.
In the 17
th minute, a foul on Southern led to a Dolphin penalty kick. Sophomore Rachel Terry's attempt was a low kick towards the left side of the goal, but Owls keeper, sophomore
Erica Ridella (Warwick, N.Y.) lunged to her right and knocked the shot away, preserving the 1-0 lead.
In the 25
th minute, the Dolphins added another quality scoring chance, when freshman Kirsten Colgrove beat Ridella to a loose ball about 20 yards outside the goal, sped past Ridella and let go a shot that sailed wide of the empty net.
Still up by one at halftime, the Owls added an insurance goal early in the second half. Â In the 62

Victoria Conde (Madrid, Spain) centered a ball from the sideline to senior
Hannah Spreckley (York, England), who fed a pass down towards the box where it was picked up by freshman
Victoria Buonanni (Durham, Conn.), who broke past the defense and beat the keeper with a shot off a clean break-in for her first career goal, giving Southern a 2-0 lead.
Ridella made four saves in goal to pick up her second shutout of the season. And after assisting on Staudle's goal, Poulin now leads the team with three assists.
The Owls return to action at Jess Dow Field on Saturday at 5 p.m. when they host Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
