SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTSThe Golden Knights (12-1-1, 8-1-1 NE-10) enter the week ranked No. 5 in the nation, after having been ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA DII Poll for most of the season. The Knights suffered their only loss of the season to Saint Anselm 2-0 on Oct. 11, and previously had a scoreless draw against Adelphi. Senior Carmelina Puopolo leads the Northeast-10 in several offensive categories, including goals (13), points (30) and shots (68). Sophomore GK Ashley Homer leads the NE-10 with an .884 save pct. and a 0.35 GAA. Freshman Morgan Burchhardt is tied for third in the NE-10 with five assists.

SCOUTING THE FALCONSBentley enters this week (2-11, 0-10 NE-10) ranked last in the NE-10 and having lost 11 straight matches. Sophomore Ana Tantum has scored four of the Falcon's six goals on the season. Bentley's two victories came on opening weekend against Molloy and Dowling. The Falcons will host Stonehill on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
BUONANNI NAMED NE-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEKFreshman forward
Victoria Buonanni has been named the NE-10 Rookie of the Week after she scored two goals last week, including the 75th minute game-winner on Saturday against Stonehill.
OWLS IN REGIONAL RANKINGSSouthern enters the week ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA East Regional rankings. New rankings will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUTThe Owls held off Stonehill for a 2-1 victory on Saturday to extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches. The Skyhawks scored in the 17th minute, ending the Owls streak of not having allowed a goal at 390 minutes.

Betti Worth assist to tie the game 1-1.
Victoria Buonanni scored the game-winner in the 75th minute after taking a pass from
Victoria Conde.

IN THE PRESEASON NORTHEAST-10 COACHES POLLThe Owls were picked ninth in the Northeast-10 Preseason coaches poll. The Owls received 100 points, while Saint Rose was tabbed as the preseason favorite.

LOOKING BACK AT 2013The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team enjoyed a fine 2013 season and narrowly missed out on a berth in the Northeast-10 Tournament. The Owls finished the year with seven wins. The team also excelled in the classroom, as they were once again honored by the National Soccer Coaches Accosiation of America with a Team Academic Award for posting a cumulative team grade point average of higher than 3.0.
PIRES NAMED THIRD OWLS' ALL-AMERICANSenior
Suzane Pires became the third player in Owls' history to earn All-America honors when she was recognized by the NSCAA at the conclusion of last year. She joins Theresa Uliano and Beba Stratakis as Owls' All-Americans.

OWLS THRIVE INDIVIDUALLY IN THE CLASSROOMFrom the academic standpoint, the Owls were honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the fifth year in a row. Twenty-one student-athletes were also named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for posting a semester grade point average of at least 3.0.
PAIR COLLECT ALL-CONFERENCE HONORSHannah Spreckley and
Suzane Pires were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference for their play during the 2013 season. Pires collected First-Team All-League honors, while Spreckley was named to the Second-Team.
