Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Kieran DeBiase (Prospect, Conn.) lifted the Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 double overtime victory on Friday afternoon at Bentley. Her third goal of the season came on Southern's 13th shot of the match in the 103rd minute. With the victory, the Owls improve to 10-4-1 (9-3-1 NE-10), while Bentley falls to 2-13 (0-12 NE-10).

The two teams combined to put eight shots on net in the opening half, but neither was able to crack the scoreboard. Sophomore Maeghan Howard (Bethany, Conn.), senior LeAnn DiSisto (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and freshman Victoria Buonanni (Durham, Conn.) all registered shots on goal for Southern.

The second half saw much of the same. The Owls outshot Bentley by a 10-8 margin through regulation, while each team had six shots on goal. With the game still scoreless, the Owls headed to overtime for the fourth time this season.

After neither team got off a shot in the first overtime, the Owls upped the pressure early in the second session. DeBiase had a shot sail high and then sophomore Caroline Staudle (New Windsor, N.Y.) had a shot attempt blocked. Just seconds later, DeBiase got off another shot that rocketed through the hands of Bentley keeper Deidre Macrorie and into the net for the golden goal at the 102:53 mark.

Sophomore Erica Ridella made six saves for her sixth shutout of the season.

This was the second victory off a golden goal for Southern this season, which now sits at 2-1-1 in overtime matches on the year.

The Owls return to Jess Dow Field on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. for their regular season finale against Assumption. Live stats will be available.
