Box Score 2 GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - A walk-off in the second game was the highlight of today's doubleheader sweep against Adelphi, the Southern Connecticut State University softball team went on to lose both games to the Panthers, 3-1 and 1-0.
The Owls are now 7-11 overall, 0-5 in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Danielle Piazza (Hopewell Jct., N.Y.) and infielder
Nicole Buch (Darien, Conn.) each went 2-for-6 on the afternoon. Sophomore pitcher
Yesenia Evaristo (Bethel, Conn.) pitched six scoreless innings in the second game with six strikeouts.
Game 1Leanna Feerick (Maybrook, N.Y.) gave the Owls an early 1-0 lead in the opener with a solo homerun in the second inning. Adelphi quickly retaliated in the bottom of the fourth with two runs to take the lead for good. Southern would drop the opener, 3-1.
Game 2The second game went on to be a pitcher's duel. Evaristo gave up two hits through 6 innings of work for the Owls while the Panthers' pitching staff combined allowed four in 7.0 innings. The game was scoreless until the last inning and last play, which was the sacrifice bunt from Adelphi's Jordan Catalano with a runner on first, as Piazza threw it down the line, the runner came around to score the game-winning run and taking the game by a final score of 1-0.
The Owls are back in action this weekend, April 5 and 6 as they travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire. The doubleheaders on Saturday begin at 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
