Owls Hit The Road For Two Games To Start 2014 Season

THE WEEK AHEAD
The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team opens the 2014 season with two games this weekend in Brookville, N.Y. The Owls will take on host LIU-Post on Friday before a Sunday afternoon contest against No. 20 nationally ranked Bridgeport.
 
IN THE PRESEASON NORTHEAST-10 COACHES POLL
The Owls were picked ninth in the Northeast-10 Preseason coaches poll. The Owls received 100 points, while Saint Rose was tabbed as the preseason favorite.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome 10 newcomers to the squad for the 2014 season - Hannah Bodner, Victoria Buonanni, Victoria Conde, Brooke Davis, Erica Friel, Kimberly Livecchi, Taylor Moore, Marissa Pearson, Betti Worth and Kasie Wilk.

THE CAPTAINS
Head Coach Adam Cohen has announced that seniors Hannah Spreckley and Sarah Brochu will serve as team captains for the Owls this fall.
  
LOOKING BACK AT 2013
The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team enjoyed a fine 2013 season and narrowly missed out on a berth in the Northeast-10 Tournament. The Owls finished the year with seven wins. The team also excelled in the classroom, as they were once again honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with a Team Academic Award for posting a cumulative team grade point average of higher than 3.0.

PIRES NAMED THIRD OWLS' ALL-AMERICAN
Senior Suzane Pires became the third player in Owls' history to earn All-America honors when she was recognized by the NSCAA at the conclusion of last year. She joins Theresa Uliano and Beba Stratakis as Owls' All-Americans.

PIRES EARNS ALL-REGION HONORS
For the third year in a row, Suzane Pires was named to the All-Region team for her play during the 2013 season.  

TWO NAMED ALL-NEW ENGLAND, ALL-ECAC
Hannah Spreckley and Suzane Pires were both selected  to the All-New England and the All-ECAC teams for their play during the 2013 season. 
 
OWLS THRIVE INDIVIDUALLY IN THE CLASSROOM
From the academic standpoint, the Owls were honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the fifth year in a row. Twenty-one student-athletes were also named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for posting a semester grade point average of at least 3.0. 

PAIR COLLECT ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Hannah Spreckley and Suzane Pires were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference for their play during the 2013 season. Pires collected First-Team All-League honors, while Spreckley was named to the Second-Team. 

ON DECK
The Owls are back in action on Sept. 13 for a road matchup at Merrimack.
