The first was a 3-0 loss to Adelphi, which is 8-2-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the conference. The second was a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to AIC, which is now 7-4 and 6-2.
NEARLY BEATING AICThe Owls hung with AIC all evening and they had two great chances to score but were unable to finish.
•Early in the first half,
Maeghan Howard sent a corner kick toward
Caroline Staudle who headed it to the far post of the goal, but AIC's keeper Rachel Edgin dove to her left and reached above her head to make a diving save and keep Southern Connecticut off the scoreboard.
•In the 60th minute, the Owls got another corner kick which was nearly headed in by
Deanna Ryan, but she was bumped off her line before she could make contact with the ball.
Betti Worth also had a chance to score, but she was pushed away by a stumbling Edgin and AIC cleared the ball.
•The Yellow Jackets' Frederica Frew would score on a header in the 95th minute from a free kick.

THIS WEEKSouthern Connecticut plays two games this week. The Owls will start on the road at Le Moyne on Wednesday at 3 p.m. They'll return home to face Merrimack on Saturday at 12 noon. There will be a Kick For Nick soccer ball collection and a Connecticut food drive collection at that game.
SCOUTING LE MOYNE•The Dolphins are 1-9-1 overall and 0-7-1 in the NE-10.
•Six of their nine losses have come by one goal.
•Their leading goal scorer is Kelly Ristoff, who has five goals on the year.
•They score an average of 0.91 goals a game and allow 2.09.
•Their keeper, Tori Corsaro, has saved 22 of 91 shots, good for a save percentage of 75.8-percent.

ALL-TIME vs. LE MOYNEThe Owls are 9-3-3 all-time against the Dolphins, including going 2-0-3 in their last five matchups.

SCOUTING MERRIMACK•As of Monday, the Warriors are 7-2-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NE-10.
•They will play Bentley on Wednesday before coming to Jess Dow Field to take on the Owls on Saturday.
•The two teams have six common opponents thus far with the Owls going 2-4 in those games and the Warriors going 2-2-2.
•As of Monday, the Warriors have won their last two games, including a 1-0 win over No. 19 Southern New Hampshire.
•Merrimack scores an average of 2.0 goals per game, led by Jenna Savi with six goals and Victoria Carter with five.
•The Warriors use a platoon system at goalkeeper, switching them at the half. Their stats are nearly identical. Meghan Gulbrandsen has allowed seven goals on 33 shots and boasts a record of 4-0-1. Molly Meehan has allowed seven goals on 34 shots and is 3-2-2.

STAUDLE HITTING HER STRIDECaroline Staudle was a monster on the field for the Owls last week. She assisted on
Victoria Buonanni's goal in the win over Pace, then scored the first two goals of the game at Franklin Pierce. She leads the team in goals with four and is tied for fifth in the NE-10 in goals, just one behind a handful of players with five.

NE-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEKFor her efforts in the two road conference wins last week, Staudle was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week.

WIN #1The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday against Assumption, a 3-2 victory with goals by
Victoria Buonanni,
Victoria Conde and
Caroline Staudle. They fell behind 1-0 in the fifth minute but tied up the game before halftime and took the lead off of a free position kick by Conde and extended it with a chip in goal by Staudle.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASONSouthern Connecticut finished 2014 with an 11-6-2 record overall. The Owls averaged just over one goal per game and allowed just under one. The strength of the Owls was their defense, led by keeper
Erica Ridella. She allowed 17 goals in 19 games and saved 85-percent of shots she faced.
Caroline Staudle led the team with six goals and 12 points last year, followed by
Victoria Buonanni with five goals and
Kieran DeBiase with three.

HONORABLE OWLSSarah Brochu took home the most awards of anyone on the team last year, most notably being named the Defensive Player of the Year and as an NE-10 Conference First-Team honoree. Also named to the All-Conference teams were Keri DeBiase,
Erica Ridella,

Victoria Conde. DeBiase and Ridella were named Third-Team All-Conference, while Bounanni and Conde were named to the All-Rookie Team.
