Click here to view the game notes as a PDFTHIS PAST WEEKSouthern Connecticut split last week's game for the second straight week. The Owls played two home games, dropping the first one to Adelphi 1-0 and defeating Assumption 2-0.
• With the 1-0 loss to Adelphi, Southern Connecticut dropped to fifth in the NE-10 standings, while the Panthers jumped ahead of the Owls to third place. The Owls were outshot 14-6 and were denied a few goals by Adelphi's goalkeeper Sergio Reyes, who made four saves in the contest.
• Conversely, the Owls' offense broke open in the 2-0 win over Assumption.
Chae Brangman and Louis Greenway-Tambini scored for Southern, but there were chances for much more goals. Both players scored on breakaways in the first half, but the offense continued to work. The Owls outshot Assumption 23-8 overall and nine to two in shots on goal. The 23 shots were by far the most Southern Connecticut has taken all season.
CONFERENCE STANDINGSAs of Monday, Southern Connecticut is fourth in the conference with 22 points – it has seven wins and one tie. The Owls are one point behind Merrimack and Adelphi and three points ahead of Le Moyne, Bentley and Saint Rose.
THIS WEEKSouthern Connecticut closes out the season with one home game and one away. The Owls' senior night will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Stonehill. Southern Connecticut will secure a home playoff game in the NE-10 Tournament with a tie or better against the Skyhawks. The team travels to No. 2 Southern New Hampshire to take on the top squad in the conference on Friday at 5 p.m.
SCOUTING STONEHILLStonehill is tenth in the conference at 3-6-2. The Skyhawks enter Tuesday's matchup having won their last game against New Haven, but they went 0-3-1 in their previous four games. Southern Connecticut and Stonehill have played 11 common opponents with the Owls going 7-3-1 in those games and the Skyhawks going 4-6-2, having seen Saint Michael's twice and beating them both times. Adam Branco leads the team in goals with eight, which is tied for second most in the conference with Louis Greenway-Tambini. Luke Besse is the expected goalkeeper for Stonehill. He has allowed 24 goals on 73 shots, which is a save percentage of 67.1-percent, worst in the conference.
ALL-TIME vs. STONEHILLThe Owls are 14-1 all-time against Stonehill, with their only loss coming in 2011.
SCOUTING No. 2 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIREThe Penmen will travel to Assumption on Tuesday before hosting the Owls on Saturday. As of Monday, Southern New Hampshire is 13-1 overall and 10-1 in the conference, and are ranked No. 2 in last week's NSCAA polls, which are updated every Tuesday. They are on a one game losing streak, having lost to Merrimack this Saturday by a score of 2-0. It was only the second time all year they had given up more than one goal. Due to the loss, it is expected that the Penmen will fall from their No. 2 spot in the national rankings when they come out on Tuesday. The Owls and Penmen have 11 shared opponents as of Monday, with the Owls going 7-3-1 in those games and SNHU going 10-1. The Penmen have a balanced offensive attack, with Sebastian Stezewski leading the way with six goals, Sofiane Tergou right behind him with five, two players with four goals and two more with three. Their goalkeeper, Nick Zucco, has allowed seven goals on 43 shots, good for a save percentage of 83.7-percent which is second in the conference. He has allowed an average of 0.58 goals per game and has seven shutouts on the year.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIREThe Owls are 28-11-8 all-time against the Penmen, including two losses last year, one of them in the NE-10 Finals.
BEATING NO. 15 MERRIMACKChae Brangman scored both goals for the Owls in the win over the Warriors. He was the recipient of a pass from Louis Greenway-Tambini as he was about 10 yards away from the goal and fired it past Merrimack's keeper Lucas Rezende. Merrimack responded right before the half with a goal by Augusto Silva, but Brangman came back in the 74th minute, drawing a foul on Rezende and earning a penalty kick, which he scored to give the Owls a 2-1 lead and win.
THE PRESEASON NE-10 COACHES POLLSCSU was picked second in the NE-10 preseason coaches poll. The Owls received 154 points and one first place vote out of 14.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASONThe Owls finished 2014 with a 15-5 record and a No. 17 national ranking in the NSCAA poll. SCSU reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and before that, qualified for the finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls averaged just over two goals per game, with
