Complete Game Notes as a .PDFHEADING INTO WEEK NINEAfter being on the road for its last three games, the Southern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team returns home looking to snap a three-game losing streak as the Owls welcome American International on Tuesday evening and Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon.
SENIOR DAYPrior to Saturday's match against the Ravens, the Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department and the women's volleyball program will be honoring its four-member senior class. This Owls' quad includes
Morgan Carman,
Taylor Carlson, Jasmine Barrett and
Kelly Gunneson.
TEAM RECORDS AND INFORMATION-American International is currently 10-9 overall and 4-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Right now, the Yellow Jackets are tied in the conference along with Saint Michael's College, who we lost to on Friday evening 3-0. The Yellow Jackets are also on a two-game winning streak as the team defeated Assumption and Merrimack last week.
-Franklin Pierce ranks second in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 7-1 conference mark as well as a 13-6 overall record on the season. The Ravens are also on a four-game winning streak as the team defeated Stonehill (3-2), Merrimack (3-0), Saint Rose (3-2) and Le Moyne (3-1). Franklin Pierce will play Saint Anselm on Tuesday evening before facing the Owls on Saturday.

WEEK EIGHT RECAPThe Owls finished week eight with an overall and conference record of 0-3. Southern Connecticut opened the week with a three-set loss to Adelphi on Tuesday evening before dropping back-to-back contests to Saint Michael's (3-0) and Saint Anselm (3-1).

Sean Taylor led the Owls in week eight averaging 2.14 kills per set over seven sets played. She also registered an assist, a service ace, two digs and six blocks. Senior
Taylor Carlson averaged 6.86 assists per set to go along with three kills, a service ace and nine digs for the Owls. Senior
Morgan Carman posted a team-high 37 digs (3.70 dps) while junior
Faith Ford led the defense with a team-high nine blocks as well as registered 13 kills and two digs.

GUNNESON AND HAUSER EARN ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDKelly Gunneson and
Nicole Hauser were two out of 37 SCSU student-athletes that were named to the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement award for the 2014-15 academic year. The student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
GUNNESON INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL MATH HONOR SOCIETYLast fall,
Kelly Gunneson was inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the National Math Honor Society.

GUNNESON NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMSenior
Kelly Gunneson was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team for her work in the classroom and on the court last fall. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.
ON DECKThe Owls are back in action on Nov. 6 as the teams travels to Manchester, N.H. to take on Southern New Hampshire University in a NE-10 showdown beginning at 7 p.m.
