THIS WEEKSouthern Connecticut plays two home games this week after being on the road for much of the first month of the season. They'll take on Adelphi on Tuesday evening before facing American International on Friday night.
SCOUTING ADELPHI• The Panthers are the only NE-10 team with no conference losses thus far. They are 5-0-2 in their last seven games including a win in their last game against Bentley.Â
• The Owls and Panthers have played three common opponents thus far - SCSU is 0-3 against those teams, Adelphi is 2-1.
• Their leading scorer is Kelsey Malles, who has six goals so far, good for second in the conference with two other players.
• The Panther keeper, Anne Marie Ulliac, has allowed seven goals, tied for sixth in the conference, and her goals against average of 0.69 is fifth best in the NE-10.
• The last time these two teams met, the Owls won the 2014 ECAC Championship on penalty kicks.
ALL-TIME vs. ADELPHIThe Owls are 5-3-2 all-time against the Panthers, including a win last year in the ECAC Champtionship game.
SCOUTING AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL• As of Monday, the Yellow Jackets have won two straight games. They will play Saint Michael's on Tuesday before facing the Owls on Friday.
• The Yellow Jackets and Owls share five common opponents thus far - Southern Connecticut is 1-4 in those games, AIC is 2-3.
• Alyssa Werbicki is the leading goal scorer for AIC with five goals on the year. She is tied for fifth in the conference with five other players.
• The expected goalkeeper for AIC is Rachel Edgin. She has allowed nine goals in nine games, good for tenth in the conference.Â

STAUDLE HITTING HER STRIDECaroline Staudle was a monster on the field for the Owls last week. She assisted on
Victoria Buonanni's goal in the win over Pace, then scored the first two goals of the game at Franklin Pierce. She leads the team in goals with four and is tied for fifth in the NE-10 in goals, just one behind a handful of players with five.
NE-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEKFor her efforts in the two road conference wins last week, Staudle was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week.
WIN #1The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday against Assumption, a 3-2 victory with goals by
Victoria Buonanni,
Victoria Conde and
Caroline Staudle. They fell behind 1-0 in the fifth minute but tied up the game before halftime and took the lead off of a free position kick by Conde and extended it with a chip in goal by Staudle.Â

IN SEASON OPENERSÂ The Owls are 15-3-1 in season openers.
LAST TIME WE SAW THEM......The Owls won the ECAC Tournament, beating Adelphi in penalty kicks. Prior to that, SCSU defeated Newberry College, 2-1, in the ECAC semifinals.Â
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASONSouthern Connecticut finished 2014 with an 11-6-2 record overall. The Owls averaged just over one goal per game and allowed just under one. The strength of the Owls was their defense, led by keeper
Erica Ridella. She allowed 17 goals in 19 games and saved 85-percent of shots she faced.
Caroline Staudle led the team with six goals and 12 points last year, followed by
Victoria Buonanni with five goals and
Kieran DeBiase with three.

LOOKING BACK AT 2014The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team was ranked as high as No. 3 in the NCAA East Region rankings in 2014.
HONORABLE OWLSSarah Brochu took home the most awards of anyone on the team last year, most notably being named the Defensive Player of the Year and as an NE-10 Conference First-Team honoree. Also named to the All-Conference teams were Keri DeBiase,
Erica Ridella,
Victoria Buonanni, and
Victoria Conde. DeBiase and Ridella were named Third-Team All-Conference, while Bounanni and Conde were named to the All-Rookie Team.
