A LOOK BACKThe Owls took their home opener from Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon with goals by
Chae Brangman and
Louis Greenway Tambini. They came within three minutes of each other and sent the Dolphins back home to Syracuse with a loss. This is the third straight time Southern Connecticut has beaten Le Moyne and the Owls improve their overall record against the Dolphins to 17-4-1.Â

Markus Jacobsen has been injured for most of this year and did not play against Le Moyne. He has only seen action against LIU-Post where he registered one shot. Filling in for him at the forward spot has been a combination of
Chae Brangman,
Louis Greenway Tambini, and
Sabri Akter. Brangman and Greenway-Tambini have scored all three goals for the Owls this season.
NATIONAL RANKINGSAs of September 8, Southern Connecticut has fallen out of the NSCAA Coaches' Rankings after beginning the season in the No. 16 slot. The new rankings are released every Tuesday.
SCOUTING BRIDGEPORTThe Purple Knights will enter Wednesday's matchup with a 3-1 record, having shutout Nyack, Franklin Pierce, and Assumption, and losing its last game against No. 17 Merrimack 4-1. Leading the scoring charge for Bridgeport is Femi Coker and Luka Ivanovic who each have two goals. Daniel Coviella has started all four games in net for the Purple Knights, but he has been spelled in three of the four games by Fabio Junior. Coviella has allowed three goals on 13 shots, and Junior has allowed one goal on eight shots.Â
ALL-TIME VS. BRIDGEPORTThe Owls lead the all-time series against the Purple Knights with a record of 34-13-2, but are 5-5 in their last 10 meetings. Southern Connecticut defeated Bridgeport last year 2-1 thanks to two goals from graduate

SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'SAs of Monday, September 14, the Purple Knights are 2-1, having lost their first game of the season 3-2 to Stonehill and winning the next two, 1-0 over Assumption and 7-0 over Lyndon State. They will play at Franklin Pierce Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. Aaron DaCosta is second in the conference in goals scored with four, including two in the rout of Lyndon State. Daniel du Feu has seen the majority of the time in net for the Purple Knights. He has allowed one goal on five shots in two full games for Saint Michael's.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASONThe Owls finished 2014 with a 15-5 record and a No. 17 national ranking in the NSCAA poll. SCSU reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and before that, qualified for the finals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Owls averaged just over two goals per game, with
Daquan King and
Markus Jacobsen leading the team with 10 goals each. Defense was the Owls' strength. Led by NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year
Sebastian Brems, they allowed 1.16 goals per game. Freshman keeper
Noah Varonier was a stud in net for the Owls, saving 71-percent of the shots he faced.
THE CAPTAINHead coach
Tom Lang announced that redshirt senior
Tyler Naef will captain the Owls this fall. This will mark the second straight year that Naef will serve as a team captain.
SCORING PUNCH COMING BACKSouthern Connecticut will see two of its top five scorers from last season return -
Markus Jacobsen and
Chae Brangman. Brangman finished second on the team last year with six goals. The next highest returning scorers are Brandon Rowlinson and
Ignacio Navarro, who each scored two goals last year.
