Complete Game Notes as a .PDFTHE WEEK AHEADFollowing a 1-3 week in non-conference play, the Southern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team looks to snap a three-game losing streak as the Owls open up Northeast-10 play against Pace University on Wednesday evening. The Owls will then wrap up with week with a road double-header against Philadelphia University and Caldwell University.
TEAM RECORDS-Pace University is 3-5 on the season and is entering Wednesday's game on a three-game winning streak. The Setters defeated Chestnut Hill, Wilmington and Holy Family.
-Philadelphia University is 2-2 on the season and won its last game against Kutztown, 3-1.
-Caldwell University is 5-3 on the season and picked up its last win against American International, 3-1.

A QUICK LOOK BACKIn week two, Southern Conn. went 1-3 in non-conference play and fell to 2-6 on the season. The Owls picked up their only win of the week against Queens College in five sets, 3-2. However, the Owls dropped their last three games against Georgian Court (1-3), Bloomfield (0-3) and West Chester (0-3).
SECOND STRAIGHTFor the second week in a row, freshman
Leanna Jadus led the Owls in kills with 3.14 kills and 3.29 digs per game. She recorded her third and fourth double-double of the season against Georgian Court and Bloomfield. Against Georgian Court, she recorded 14 kills and 11 digs before tallying 11 kills and 16 digs against Bloomfield.Â
ROOKIE OF THE WEEKAfter earning a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor roll, freshman
Leanna Jadus was named the NE-10 Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
GUNNESON NAMED CT ARMY/NATIONAL GUARD/SCSU ATHLETE OF THE WEEKGunneson played a key role in the Owls' offensive attack in their four matches last week. She opened the week with seven kills in Southern's five-set win over Queens. Two days later, she registered a career-high 16 kills along with seven digs in a match against Georgian Court. Gunneson followed that effort up with 14 kills in a match against Bloomfield on Saturday.
TUTWILER WITH THE BLOCKJunior
Briauna Tutwiler continues to lead the Owls in blocks with 29 on the season. She is also averaging 0.97 blocks per game which ranks her third in the Northeast-10 Conference.
TEAM BREAK DOWNHeading into week three, Southern Connecticut is second in the conference in block totals (53) and fourth in the conference in total attacks (1054), solo blocks (13), block assists (80) and blocks per set (1.77 bpg).
LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEARSouthern Connecticut finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 7-22 and a conference record of 3-11.

GUNNESON AND HAUSER EARN ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDKelly Gunneson and
Nicole Hauser were two out of 37 SCSU student-athletes that were named to the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement award for the 2014-15 academic year. The student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
GUNNESON INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL MATH HONOR SOCIETYLast fall,
Kelly Gunneson was inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the National Math Honor Society.
GUNNESON NAMED TO NE-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMSenior
Kelly Gunneson was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team for her work in the classroom and on the court last fall. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.
ON DECKThe Owls return to action on Sept. 22 as the team travels to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference battle. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
