Caroline Staudle. They fell behind 1-0 in the fifth minute but tied up the game before halftime and took the lead off of a free position kick by Conde and extended it with a chip in goal by Staudle.

Erica Ridella was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll for stopping seven of nine shots against Assumption. She had 10 saves entering the game.
THIS WEEKSouthern Connecticut will travel to Manchester, N.H. to face Saint Anselm on Wednesday before playing its home opener on Saturday against Southern New Hampshire.Â
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELMThe strength of the Hawks is their goalie Cassie Quattropani. She has played all but one half for Saint Anselm and has been stellar in net, allowing six goals on 34 shots, including a 16 save effort in a 2-2 tie against Mercy. She leads the conference in saves with 28 and is fifth in save percentage among goalies with at least 180 minutes played. The Hawks will enter Wednesday's matchup having lost their previous game against Adelphi 2-0. They have scored three goals on the year by Kendra Bonczar, Alexis Elowitch and Corey Murray.
ALL-TIME VS. SAINT ANSELMThe Owls have an all-time record against Assumption of 10-4-2, including wins against the Hawks in their past two games.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIREThe Penmen will play American International on Wednesday before taking on the Owls on Saturday. As of Tuesday, the Penmen are 2-1 and lost their most recent game against Saint Rose, a 1-0 defeat in overtime. They have allowed three goals on the year - two were allowed by Paige Salmon, who played in both overtime games for SNHU, and the other by Autumn Scanlon, who made four saves and got the win against Post. Salmon has saved 11 of 13 shots on the year, good for third in the conference among goalies with at least 180 minutes played. The Penmen offense has been spread out over their first three games, with one goal each by Gabby Cappello, Trisha Luis, Nerida Montrond, Olivia Parsons.Â

IN SEASON OPENERSÂ The Owls are 15-3-1 in season openers.
LAST TIME WE SAW THEM......The Owls won the ECAC Tournament, beating Adelphi in penalty kicks. Prior to that, SCSU defeated Newberry College, 2-1, in the ECAC semifinals.Â
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASONSouthern Connecticut finished 2014 with an 11-6-2 record overall. The Owls averaged just over one goal per game and allowed just under one. The strength of the Owls was their defense, led by keeper
Erica Ridella. She allowed 17 goals in 19 games and saved 85-percent of shots she faced.
Caroline Staudle led the team with six goals and 12 points last year, followed by
Victoria Buonanni with five goals and
Kieran DeBiase with three.

LOOKING BACK AT 2014The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team was ranked as high as No. 3 in the NCAA East Region rankings in 2014.
HONORABLE OWLSSarah Brochu took home the most awards of anyone on the team last year, most notably being named the Defensive Player of the Year and as an NE-10 Conference First-Team honoree. Also named to the All-Conference teams were Keri DeBiase,
Erica Ridella,
Victoria Buonanni, and
Victoria Conde. DeBiase and Ridella were named Third-Team All-Conference, while Bounanni and Conde were named to the All-Rookie Team.
ON DECKThe Owls hit the road to face Saint Anselm on Wednesday, September 16 and return home to play Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, September 19.
