Members of the team were welcomed back and congratulated by Director of Athletics
Jay Moran.
A HEARTBREAKING LOSSThe Owls lost a tough game to the Penmen, 1-0 in overtime. The goal came when goalkeeper
Erica Ridella passed the ball out to one of her teammates, but SNHU's Alexa Poulin took it away and fired it past a diving Ridella. The Owls managed 12 shots in the game, including six on goal. Half of both totals were owned by
Kieran DeBiase.
THIS WEEKSouthern Connecticut is back on the road this week to take on Pace and Franklin Pierce.
SCOUTING PACEThe Setters will enter Tuesday's matchup with a 3-2-1 record having beaten their most recent opponent, Bentley, 1-0. Delany Williams leads the team in goals with two, while five other players are tied with one goal each. They average just over one goal a game and allow half a goal a game.Â
ALL-TIME AGAINST PACEThe Owls have an all-time record against the Setters of 9-5-2 dating back to 1999, including a 2-0 win last year.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCEAs of Monday, the Ravens have a record of 3-1 and 1-1 in the NE-10. Nathalia Maria da Silva leads the scoring for FPU with three goals. Nichole Donovan and Sydney Stengle are right behind her with two goals each. The Ravens are averaging three goals per game and allowing .25 goals per game.Â
ALL-TIME AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCEThe Ravens have had the Owls' number, as Southern Connecticut's all-time record against them is 3-20. SCSU was bounced by Franklin Pierce in overtime of the NE-10 Tournament last season.
RIDELLA NAMED TO NE-10 HONOR ROLL LAST WEEKGoalkeeper
Erica Ridella was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll for stopping seven of nine shots against Assumption. She had 10 saves entering the game.
WIN #1The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday against Assumption, a 3-2 victory with goals by
Victoria Buonanni,
Victoria Conde and
Caroline Staudle. They fell behind 1-0 in the fifth minute but tied up the game before halftime and took the lead off of a free position kick by Conde and extended it with a chip in goal by Staudle.Â
FALLING TO SAINT ANSELMThe Owls dropped their third game of the year to Saint Anselm last Wednesday.
Victoria Conde had four shots, but was unable to add to her season total of two goals.
Erica Ridella also made five saves in the loss.
THE PRESEASON NE-10 COACHES POLLThe Owls have been picked to finish fifth in the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The team received 148 points.

IN SEASON OPENERSÂ The Owls are 15-3-1 in season openers.
LAST TIME WE SAW THEM......The Owls won the ECAC Tournament, beating Adelphi in penalty kicks. Prior to that, SCSU defeated Newberry College, 2-1, in the ECAC semifinals.Â
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASONSouthern Connecticut finished 2014 with an 11-6-2 record overall. The Owls averaged just over one goal per game and allowed just under one. The strength of the Owls was their defense, led by keeper
Erica Ridella. She allowed 17 goals in 19 games and saved 85-percent of shots she faced.
Caroline Staudle led the team with six goals and 12 points last year, followed by
Victoria Buonanni with five goals and
Kieran DeBiase with three.

LOOKING BACK AT 2014The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team was ranked as high as No. 3 in the NCAA East Region rankings in 2014.
HONORABLE OWLSSarah Brochu took home the most awards of anyone on the team last year, most notably being named the Defensive Player of the Year and as an NE-10 Conference First-Team honoree. Also named to the All-Conference teams were Keri DeBiase,
Erica Ridella,
Victoria Buonanni, and
Victoria Conde. DeBiase and Ridella were named Third-Team All-Conference, while Bounanni and Conde were named to the All-Rookie Team.
