View Full ResultsNEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's swimming and diving team tied Marist College 149-149 in their meet on Saturday afternoon.
Dylan Swanepoel (Milford, Conn.),
Brendan Murphy (Watertown, Conn.),
Tyler Vander Vos (South Windsor, Conn.),
Louis Geist (Arvada, Colo.) and
Raymond Cswerko (Torrington, Conn.) all had first place finishes in individual events, while the Owls also took first place in both relay events.
Cswerko, Swanepoel, Murphy and
Raymond Snyder (Waterbury, Conn.) finished the 200 yard medley relay in first place with a time of 1:35.92.
Christopher Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.),
Brandon Beaudoin (Scotia, N.Y.),
Shane Maypother (Wall Township, N.J.) and
Travis Burke (Downington, Pa.) finished the same race in fourth at 1:41.09.
Swanepoel placed first in the 200 yard butterfly at 1:55.97. Geist and Maypother came in behind him in fourth and sixth with times of 1:58.66 and 2:00.80, respectively. Swanepoel would also finish third in the 100 yard butterfly at 52.99.
Cswerko finished first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 51.24. Maypother finished behind him, as well, in fifth place with a time of 53.48. Cswerko also took first place in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events with times of 51.23 and 1:53.48, respectively. Snyder and
Tyler Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) finished behind him in both events, with Snyder coming in third in the 100 yard backstroke at 55:10 and fifth in the 200 at 2:04.53 and Castellone finishing in fifth in the 100 at 56.19 and seventh in the 200 at 2:06.45.
Vander Vos took first in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events with times of 46.98 and 1:42.59, respectively. Murphy and Burke finished behind Vander Vos in the 100 yard freestyle with times of 48.50 and 50.36, respectively. That duo also finished first and fourth in the 50 yard freestyle, with Murphy taking first at 21.33 and Burke placing fourth at 23.14. Geist finished in fourth place behind Vander Vos in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.44, but also finished in front of him in the 500 yard freestyle. Geist finished first with a time of 4:41.62 while Vander Vos finished third at 4:50.68.
The team of Vander Vos, Burke, Snyder and Murphy also finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay at 1:26.83.
Curtin finished with three second place finishes in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke and the 400 yard IM. In those races, he finished with times of 1:02.22, 2:16.25 and 4:16.83, respectively.
Brandon Beaudoin finished behind him in each one of those races, coming in fourth in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke at 1:02.65 and 2:18.61 and fifth in the 400 yard IM at 4:22.78.
Selim Lemond (Oxford, Conn.) led the way for the diving portion with scores of 211.88 in the three meter dive and 264.37 in the 1 meter dive.
Southern Connecticut's next meet is Wednesday when it travels to Connecticut College.
