The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team is riding a two game win streak heading into its matchup against No. 24 Merrimack College on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. (Jess Dow Field).

The Owls maintain a 12-5-1 all-time record versus Merrimack. Both teams squared off last season, where the Owls escaped with a 2-1 victory.

TAMBINI NAMED NE-10 CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Louis Greenway Tambini (Nottingham, England) of the men's soccer team, has been named Northeast-10 Conference player of the week. Tambini scored the game-winning goal in double overtime against American International College last week, to give the Owls a 2-1 victory. Tambini would add another goal in a 5-0 victory over Saint Anselm this past Saturday. Click here for full release.

NOAH VARONIER
Through nine games, the junior goalie has recorded four shutouts and has a combined record of 5-3-1. Varonier currently ranks 11th in the NE-10 conference with 29 saves.
NE-10 CONFERENCE RANKINGS
SCSU ranks ninth in the NE-10 Conference in both shots (109) and goals (15). The Owls are currently 7th in points with 10, and are 3-2-1 overall in conference play.Â

The Owls were among those receiving votes in the first NSCAA national poll of 2016 and were ranked No. 7 regionally in the first weekly poll.

Head coach Tom Lang has named Christian Samaniego and Alex Soriano team captains for the 2016 season.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
The Owls welcome 12 newcomers to the squad for the 2016 season, including graduate student Danilo Andrade, juniors Lucas Saunders and Morrice Baker, and freshmen Blaise Haba, James Foster, Connor Bradley, Jan-Malte Thesenvitz, Alex Ramirez, Devante Teixeira, Zak Wright, Kyle Baron and Ian Shannon.
LOOKING BACK AT 2015
The Owls finished the 2015 season with a 9-7-1 record and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.

SCSU continues its conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. as they host Bentley University (Jess Dow Field).
