NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Student-athletes and coaches from the Southern Connecticut State University football team took part in a cleanup sponsored by the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Sports Council on Sunday. The Owls joined forces with student-athletes from the University of New Haven in the event, which featured beautification of the area along the Quinnipiac River on Front Street. In all, more than 100 coaches, student-athletes and community members participated in the cleanup.

This event is just one example of many community outreach events that SCSU student-athletes take part in on an annual basis. SCSU student-athletes volunteered more than 4,000 hours of their time to numerous outreach efforts, both on-campus and in Greater New Haven, during the 2014-15 academic year.
