REGULAR SEASON PLAY COMES TO AN END
The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team went 1-1 last week with a 2-1 win over No. 9 Merrimack. This week, the Owls head on the road to face Saint Rose on Tuesday Oct. 24. From there, the Owls will honor their seven seniors on Friday night when they face Saint Anselm, with the game set to start at 7 p.m.

FOSTER SHINES FOR OWLS
Sophomore James Foster recorded a goal and an assist last week. The assist came against No. 9 Merrimack on the game-winning goal. For his efforts, he was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll.
 
LOOKING AT THE NE10 STANDINGS
Entering the week, the Owls sit in fourth place in the NE10 standings, one point behind SNHU. The Owls can place no lower than fifth in the conference going into their last two regular season games.
 
CAREER YEAR FOR GREENWAY-TAMBINI
With four games left in the regular season, Louis Greenway-Tambini has already hit a career high in goals (11), assists (5) and points (27).

IN THE NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS
The first NCAA regional rankings were announced last week, and the Owls sat at No. 3 in the East Region. These rankings are used to determine NCAA selection and tournament seeding. Complete Release

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Several key players for the Owls are Louis Greenway Tambini who has 11 goals and five assists on the year, putting him at a career high 27 points, goalie Noah Varonier who has recorded 61 saves on the year and five shutouts along with Ignasi Cererols who is second on the team in points so far this year.

WINNING WAYS
The Owls' 2-1 win against No. 9 Merrimack put them in fourth place and one point behind SNHU in the conference. They are 7-1-3 in their last 11 games.During this run they have scored 16 goals, while only allowing nine in.

GREENWAY-TAMBINI STAYS HOT
The senior added an assist last week to put him at 27 points on the year. He leads his team in all statistical categories with an average of 1.9 points a game and is leading his team to a top four seed in the NE10 Championship tournament.

CEREROLS SCORES FIRST CAREER GOAL
Freshman Ignasi Cererols recorded the first collegiate goal of his career against UNH off a penalty kick to help the Owls win the game.

GREENWAY-TAMBINI EARNS NE10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Louis Greenway Tambini was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll after recording two goals and three assists against Bridgeport and LIU Post. 
 
OWLS START OFF ON A HIGH
With the Owls' win against Mercy, they improved to 34-9-2 all-time in season openers. Senior Louis Greenway Tambini had the game-winning goal that was assisted by Ignacio Navarro to give the Owls the first win of the 2017 campaign.

CAPTAINS EARN WEEKLY HONORS
Noah Varonier was awarded Goalie of the Week honors for his play in the Owls' home opener against Mercy. He recorded four saves in the win for his first shutout of the 2017 campaign. Louis Greenway-Tambini, meanwhile was named to the weekly honor roll after he scored the game-winning goal for the Owls in the 1-0 victory over Mercy. 
 
THE CAPTAINS
Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer coach Tom Lang has announced that senior Louis Greenway Tambini and senior Noah Varonier will serve as the team captains for the 2017 season.
                     
RETURNING OWLS
The Owls have 14 returning players from the 2016 campaign. In addition, the Owls returning field players accounted for 51 percent of the goals from last year, including six tallies from All-Conference pick Louis Greenway Tambini.

VARONIER KEY TO OWLS DEFENSE
Senior Noah Varonier started all 17 games for the Owls in his junior year. He posted a 1.44 GAA last season and is a three-year starter for the Owls.

PETKE NAMED REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH
Former Southern Connecticut State University All-American and 2017 SCSU Hall of Fame inductee Mike Petke was named head coach for Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer.
