NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Southern Connecticut State University softball team dropped two against Assumption in today's action going ten innings in both games (L, 6-5; L, 8-7).

TEAM RECORDS: Southern Connecticut State University (5-18, 2-9 NE10) | Assumption College (11-5)  

Giuliana D'Arcangelo (Brookfield, Conn.) notched one RBI, 6-for-10 and scored four runs while teammate Jodi DiSanto (Bristol, Conn.) went 5-for-9 and recorded two runs with three RBI in the doubleheader against Assumption.

GAME ONE
                                                                                   
An eventful afternoon with the Greyhounds scoring early in the bottom of the second inning. The Owls would respond with three runs in the top of the third inning; Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) would lead off with a single and advanced to third off of a McIntosh ground out. D'Arcangelo would then single to bring in Buscetto, next Victoria Ceballos (Bridgeport, Conn.) would ground out to advance D'Arcangelo, DiSanto would then double to give the Owls the lead. Arianne Tedeschi (Deer Park, N.Y. ) doubled to bring in DiSanto and increase the Owls lead, 3-1. Neither team would score until the fifth inning where the Owls scored a run off DiSanto's triple, which brought in D'Arcangelo, 4-1. The Greyhounds would score two in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Owls lead to one, 4-3.

The Greyhounds would tie it at four in the bottom of the sixth, but the Owls would regain the lead in the top of the seventh. SCSU would not hold on to the lead for long as Assumption would score in the bottom of the seventh forcing the game into extra innings. Both teams would not score for several innings until the tenth inning where the Greyhounds would score on an error to end the game, 5-6.

GAME TWO

Game two saw extra innings again as Owls opened up the scoring in the second with a DiSanto single, who then advanced to third off a double from Tedeschi. DiSanto would then score off a wild pitch by the Greyhounds. Tedeschi scored off a Arianna Medeiros (Tewksbury, Mass.) RBI single to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. The Greyhounds would tie it a two that same inning. Both teams score one in the third to bring the score all even at 3. A scoring barrage occurred in the fourth as the Owls scored three. Medieros singled and advanced to second off a Jaime Conklin (Falls Village, Conn.) sac bunt. Buscetto grounded out but would bring in Medeiros to break the tie. BryAnna McIntosh (Cheshire, Conn.) and D'Arcangelo both singled putting runners on first and second as DiSanto came to bat. DiSanto would single to bring in McIntosh and put runners on the corners. Delany Turner (Leesburg, Va.) stepped up to the plate and hit an RBI single to score D'Arcangelo and give the Owls a 6-3 lead.

Assumption would score two runs of their own to cut into the Owls lead, 6-5. The Greyhounds would score one in the fifth and one in the sixth inning to take the lead, 6-7. The Owls would tie it up in the top of the seventh as Tedeschi singled to get on base and then advanced to third off a sacrifice bunt and Conklin's single. With runners on the corners and one out left in the game Buscetto steps up to the plate and hit and RBI single to bring in Tedeschi and tie the game at seven. The Greyhounds would score in the tenth giving them the 8-7 decision.
