Owls Open Season With Two Weekend Games

The Southern Connecticut State University's women's soccer team kicks off the 2017 season with a matchup against No. 18 nationally ranked LIU Post on Friday, followed by a Sunday afternoon showdown against Mercy.

ALL-TIME VS. LIU POST
The series is tied between SCSU and LIU Post, 4-4-2. Last year's match ended in a tie, 1-1.

ALL-TIME VS. MERCY
The Owls hold the all-time record against Mercy with a record of 2-1-0. The teams last met in 2016, as the Owls fell to the Mavericks 3-1.

IN SEASON OPENERS 
The Owls are 15-5-1 in season openers.

LEADING THE SQUAD
Senior Hannah Bodner will return to captain the squad alongside junior co-captain Mikaela Magee for the 2017 season.
 
LOOKING BACK AT LAST SEASON
The Owls finished the 2016 season with a 9-7-3 record and qualified for the NE-10 Conference Tournament, where they fell to Pace, 1-0 in the first round.

WELCOME TO THE SQUAD
The Owls welcome 10 newcomers to the club for the 2017 season - junior Amber Pindulic and freshmen Kelly Fogarty, Nadine Hilkert, Rossella Graniero, Alyssa Maldonado, Meaghan Kelley, Sydney Lee, Gillian Hotchkiss, Caley Hennessey and Kourtney Costello. 

ARRUDA ANCHORS THE GOAL
All-Conference performer Gabrielle Arruda will return to the goal after a 2016 season that saw her sport an 8-6-3 with a 1.21 goals against average, .763 save percentage, and four shutouts.

ON DECK
The Owls continue action on the road against Bridgeport on September 6 and then on September 9 as they travel to Saint Michael's College.
