The Southern Connecticut State University's women's soccer team kicks off the 2017 season with a matchup against No. 18 nationally ranked LIU Post on Friday, followed by a Sunday afternoon showdown against Mercy.

The Owls finished the 2016 season with a 9-7-3 record and qualified for the NE-10 Conference Tournament, where they fell to Pace, 1-0 in the first round.

Gabrielle Arruda will return to the goal after a 2016 season that saw her sport an 8-6-3 with a 1.21 goals against average, .763 save percentage, and four shutouts.Â
